Matrix Reloaded - Worst sequel or Just a big let Down!? aj2k23 May 16, 03

Well its half and half. very disappointed and action can only take this movie so far and it took it to far. there was to much talking and it got boring after a while and i was going to fall asleep. there was nothing new except characters different action scenes and a stupid story. Sam old save the world or save this bla bla bla. Who cares every one wants to know more about the matrix but did they let you know. No they didn't. Way to long. Original was way better. A good action flick but nothing else to look out for. I would wait for dvd because it would be better just to fast forward theough the long parts that piss you off. car chase scene was dumb and alot of parts needed more time on special effects. Don't waist money to sit in a crowded theater for a long boring dissapointment! Sorry for rating but if they would have let us read the script i would have said LEAVE IT ALONE!
moviejunkie: I was just as hard on Star Wars Episode I when I first saw it because I expected so much. Then I went and saw it a second time and was pleasantly surprised.

I think once I detached SW from the original trilogy I was able to enjoy it on it's own for what it was.

Do you plan on seeing in the theater again? I'd like to see if it improves your idea of the film.

Matrix Reloaded - tom_g May 17, 03

This movie kicked ass. I know true Matrix followers will love it but I think X-men comes in better overall for action for general public.
james: I agree completely!!! Something definetly felt choppy about the Matrix Reloaded. james

Matrix Reloaded - ive never seen so many people love it then wallmwallm May 17, 03

here are some posts i have put on some movie critic sites:

Now with the super unheard wide release of this movie, and the forced "a" reviews, i see the power of money can destroy a movie and directors.
Its all about money and that opening weekend.
How can you guys post positive reviews with:
"insanely pretentious","Is it as good as The Matrix? No,","inane as the bulk of the storyline is","this reboot never really hits the heights", and it goes on.
Can't anyone see how this is like living in china with these writers trying to express how they really feel, but must write something positve because it has come down from on high that will or hell will be paid?

i think that a lot of reviewers are writing reviews under duress concerning this this film. I have never seen so many "postive reviews" with such bad comments interpersed.

I loved the first one. I am a scifi fan. I dont expect godfather, it was so good for my genre. this movie was unbelieveable. Just a real bad movie. some of my friends liked it. Oh, they understood all the mystical subtext. How clever I thought, but kept my mouth closed. Just because a movie has all this "hidden meaning" doesnt mean the story is good. god was it bad.

It was better than "cats" the musical. I will see it again and again.
I feel so clever about getting all the mystical subtext.
I loved how the white rastas turned into ghosts with vampire teeth. That was so cool!!
Morphs speech at Zion was so uplifting! I am glad we heard the whole thing!
I loved watching neo & trinity having sex and all those people dancing at the same time, that scene means something.

Matrix Reloaded - So many things wrong. desolateaurora May 17, 03

I will start off by giving the brief bit of praise I have for the movie. A couple of the effects were in fact very awesome. My favorite was Neo saving Morpheus and the Keymaker after the car chase. But the few minutes here and there throughout the movie with good effects weren't enough to make it anywhere near good. 1. The action sequences are boring. There was no power behind them. They serve no purpose. They don't move the story forward and do not have anything dependent on their outcome. 2. The movie did not pick up where the first one left off. At the end of the first, Neo is confident, he is "The One", and he knows what he has to do. He's not going to unhook everyone, because that would be impossible. He's not here to end things, but to bring about a new beginning, or possibly a coexistence. Then suddenly at the beginning of Reloaded, he is back to being unsure. He mentions several times "he's not sure what he should do" and they never explain why he had this extreme loss of confidence. 3. Morpheus going from being a revered figure to some sort of a joke. Apparently he doesn't have enough followers to refill his crew roster. His old ship boosted a crew of 6 besides Morpheus and Neo, now it's just the four of them. Why? 4. They slap you across the face with all their heavy handed concepts. Many people will say I don't like the movie because I "don't understand". It's almost impossible to miss their points. Now I know there is a third movie and more will be explained, but it's bad filmmaking to have the third movie of a trilogy be dependent upon you understanding or enjoying the second one. It's bull to force me to sit through two hours of garbage just so I'm set up for the finale.
All in all, this movie was more like a video game based on the first movie. Fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene, fight, car chase, cut scene, fight the boss, cut scene. Roll credits. Believe me, I will NOT shell out the $10 for the third movie.
chickenboy: You're telling me they didn't start where they left off from! Tank supposedly has died somewhere between movies 1 and 2? chickenboy

Matrix Reloaded - No new special effects!!! rudy May 18, 03

Could have shown us some new effects. Nothing we haven't seen before. But still better than the other action movies out there!

Matrix Reloaded - Not as good as the first chickenboy May 20, 03

I though this film could have been a lot better. I heard on the radio that this one probably sucked because they filmed it like one 5 hour movie, and did a bad job of editing it and chopping it in half. I think the video game looks cool, I'm going to try and rent it this week.

Matrix Reloaded - Kicked some ass and then some... pixelgrind.com May 27, 03

Definitely 5 stars, although I'll give it a 9 instead of a 10 just so there is some room to improve upon.

First of all, this movie is waaaay better than X-men 2! Get real people. You can't compare this "thinkers" movie to the comic book world of the X-men. However, if you don't think much, or it hurts to think, then you might want to gell out and watch X-men over and over again.

This movie does have a few flaws, but considering what they needed to do in order to follow-up 1 and setup 3, they pulled it off. The Matrix world couldn't just be simple, it had to be more complex, and this movie gave everything a nice twist, and the metaphor's that it uses help to subvert the status quo of religion and prophecy. So, we have religion, philosophy, science & technology all wrapped up as a deeper mystery wrapped in an enigma. I loved this movie and I will see it again.

Another cool thing is that we won't have to wait years before "revolutions"!

Matrix Reloaded - I hated this movie so BAd! Eric22 Jun 12, 03

Thats all i have to say. boring not enough excitement and not a solid script. first way better.!

Matrix Reloaded - "the matrix has you"...dissapointed terminator9928 Jun 12, 03

i thought this sequall was over all boring for the most case. granted the fight scenes are pretty cool...if you dont fall asleep betwwen them! for most case i thought matrix reloaded was lacking the audience"s attention in a couple of ways, i mean a sex scene between neo and trinity...ew gross!...pleese dear lord let the third one be awesome!

Matrix Reloaded - hated it alot! ajock109 Jun 13, 03

Cool action, cool effects! But I have to say the moviejunkie Mar 16, 06

Cool action, cool effects! But I have to say the first one was better. This one had 'too many slow parts!' Yes, I give it 5 stars and yes I give it a 10. But actually would have been 4.9 and 9.9. There was something missing and the ending cut like chessy 60's batman episode.

Action sequences and fighting still make it better than anything. I guess it's hard not to be a little rough on it after the original.

Reloaded action scenes definitely less frequent, b Buckaroo Banzai Mar 16, 06

Reloaded action scenes definitely less frequent, but still top notch. This sequel does a good job of developing the characters and the story line. I like how new characters and settings were introduced such as Zion, the Keymaker, and Merovingian. But this is typical of a sequel in a trilogy because of the plateau effect of original vs. sequel vs. third(ie, intoduction, plateau, climax, respectively)

Reloaded had a significant erotic undertone throughout the movie. I think they had to put emphasis on the love affair between Neo and Trinity because it relates to the "choice" Neo has to make. Also, the audience would be expecting it, so they couldn't let us down.

This one had more of a "Star Wars" feel to it. I am looking forward to Matrix Revolutions, even though it looks almost identical to Reloaded. Make sure you wait until the credits are over so you can see the trailer for Revolutions.

Back in 1999, writer-directors Larry and Andy Wach moviejunkie Mar 16, 06

Back in 1999, writer-directors Larry and Andy Wachowski delivered the first cyberepic in their phenomenal, philosophic, comic book-like action-thriller trilogy that explores the nature of reality and the search for truth. In "The Matrix," Neo (Keanu Reeves) a web hacker, realizes that the world is a computer-generated illusion designed to keep humanity unaware that it's simply the bioelectric energy source for a race of sentient machines. Armed with this knowledge, he's transformed into The One, mankind's prophesied savior, ready to wage war against the machines. He has become ultra-powerful because he believes he is. His cohorts are the Resistance leader Morpheus (Laurence Fisburne) and Trinity (Carrie-Ann Moss), the tough yet vulnerable warrior whom Neo loves. Along with Morpheus' love Niobe (Jada Pinkett Smith), they're off to defend Zion, the last human city buried deep near the Earth's core, against 200,000 menacing Sentinels. Advised by the Oracle (Gloria Foster) to find the Key Maker (Randall Duk Kim) to gain access to the Matrix's mainframe, they encounter sultry Persephone (Monica Belluci) and battle villainous, mechanized Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) as well as new foes like the evil albino twins (Neil and Adrian Rayment). It's all quite convoluted so don't look for easy explanations.
The Wachowskis trigger contemporary paranoia, confuse with plot complexity, then dazzle with stylized, gravity-defying stunts CGI sequences, many involving their signature "bullet-time" effect. Best are an adrenaline-pumping multi-vehicle freeway chase and a fight between Neo and 100 Agent Smith digital replicants. On the Granger Movie Gauge of 1 to 10, "Matrix Reloaded" is a visually slick, action-packed 9, concluding with "Matrix Revolutions" coming in November.
